Board Profile

The Board of Applied Sciences and Technology (BAST) Islamabad

Who We Are

The Board of Applied Sciences and Technology (BAST), Islamabad, Pakistan is established under Act XXI of 1860, and is a private educational awarding body established to provide quality evaluation, standardization, skill assessment, and vocational validation.

In a rapidly evolving global technical market, BAST was founded to bridge the gap between classroom theory and practical vocational competence. We cater to students, workers, and professionals across Pakistan and overseas, offering formally validated diplomas, certificates, and competency credentials.

Our Operational Mandate

BAST acts as an administrative and regulatory board that oversees the evaluation of skills across multiple domains. Our operations are divided into three primary functional areas:

  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): Providing formal qualifications to skilled workers who have acquired expertise through hands-on experience, self-taught trades, or uncertified jobs.
  • Distance Education: Directing flexible learning frameworks, study guides, and examinations for students who cannot attend physical campuses.
  • Affiliated Center Audits: Authorizing and monitoring Affiliated Training Partners (ATPs) to deliver standard BAST courses, conducting external audits, and organizing final examinations.

Global Standards and Attestation

To support professionals seeking employment abroad, BAST maintains international standards of occupational validation. Every credential issued by the Board features:

  1. Unique Registration Codes: Encrypted serial, registration, and roll numbers assigned to every candidate.
  2. Instant Online Verification: Employers, recruitment agencies, and embassies worldwide can instantly search and verify student profiles on our public database.
  3. Security Checks: Strict verification protocols ensuring the absolute authenticity of transcripts, marks sheets, and diplomas.

Administrative Hierarchy

The Board is governed by an Academic Council comprising leading technologists, educationists, and vocational trainers. The administrative execution is led by the Chairman, registrar, and external controllers of examinations. We coordinate with local industry bodies and international trade groups to continuously update our curriculum codes, keeping them aligned with active market requirements.
